Our Mission Statement / Mandate

Food Security and First Nations Food Sovereignty

Emergency Food Assistance service for Millbrook First Nations Families on and off reserve and within our satellite reserves  of Cole Harbour Beaverdam Sheet Harbour . We are a registered non profit governed by a first nations board of directors.

We provide family programs designed to help those struggling with food insecurity with hands on experience and  land based learning opportunities and creating a connection to community while maintaining a connection unique to the Mik'Maq Culture with our seven sacred teachings in mind.

our name translates to "end of the rushing waters house of food"


We provide programs to combat the high rates of first nations struggling with food security

>Cooking on a budget/ Baking Skills/ Budget planning/community connections/ traditional easy meals/crock pot cooking/healthy soups/build a pantry/ herbal medicines/traditional skills / grow your garden/canning and preserves/ youth empowerment skills

Many of our activities focus on creating a safe happy environment for everyone to enjoy.

our past community events have been

elves for elders / christmas parties for kids/ Easter/halloween activities for kids/open meal days/senior days/back to school/healthy snacks/day of caring/community give aways/coldest night of the year/rain gear for kids/every child matters/grow with us/

we offer a free toy room and clothing room to reduce landfill waste where items are donated and re used by community members/ we host a loan out libray for books/community connections room for seniors and a TV area for children or seniors to enjoy.

Our emergency Food Service is once per month visit in a family friendly area and our main lobby is always stocked with items to help yourself with.

We participate in period poverty reduction and hygiene items from our networking partnerships  and are free no questions asked.

We have a seniors/ elders community connection room to enjoy a quiet weekly meal read a book or do a puzzle . We believe that mental health well being is a key factor to thriving and provide many activities that focus on the entire family unit

First Nations have always come together with food in good times or bad and our food bank resource center focuses on the importance of staying traditional while providing services that are unique to our way of life
